My teaching philosophy centers around creating an environment in which students receive informal and formal education through varied processes. While midwifery education begins as a didactic learning experience, it must evolve into hands-on practice. I believe in the educational paradigm of learn, observe, do, teach. Through this process students are taught skills didactically, observe the skill being performed, perform the skill themselves and teach it back to their preceptor. When you can teach a skill, you become confident that you know it.
Below are several examples of my teaching exercises.
